God of Deliverance by Jenn Wilken

This is a women's study led by Pam Keller.  This group meets on Monday nights at 6:30 PM via Zoom.  If you would like to join, please call the church office for the information to join this study.  This study will begin Monday, May 23.

“Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph” (Exodus 1:8).

With that introduction, we enter into the story of the Hebrew people in the Book of Exodus. No longer under the protection of their forefather Joseph, the children of Israel became slaves to the Egyptians. But God was raising up a deliverer in Moses, to lead His people from bondage to freedom so they could worship Him.

The exodus of the Israelites shapes our understanding of the whole Bible, its themes
reverberating all the way to Revelation. Exodus is the birth narrative of a nation
unmistakably guided by the Great Deliverer.

In this 10-session verse-by-verse study of Exodus 1–18, Jen Wilkin shows us that Israel’s story is our story: the same God who delivered Israel also delivers all those He loves from slavery to sin and from service to the pharaohs of this world. He lifts our eyes to the promised land He has prepared where we dwell with I AM and worship Him as the one true God.

HUNGER FOR THE HOLY by Calvin Miller

This class will be led by Pastor Jim.  The class will meet on Sunday nights from 6:30-7:30 PM.  It will be a hybrid class.  Please contact the church office if you would like the information needed to join by Zoom.  Start date will be posted soon.

Using the imagery of the psalms as a backdrop, author Calvin Miller explores our hunger for intimacy with our Holy God. Insisting that the pathway to God's holiness is through a journey into our own selves, Miller yet maintains that our end is not to know ourselves but to know Christ. Our hunger for the Holy leads us to a table for two in a quiet wilderness. Here, Miller says, we meet as "ardent lovers in the lonely desert of the human heart. There, he speaks as much as we do, and even when both of us say nothing, we are rapt in a welded oneness."

In Miller's inimitable style, he graciously invites us to satisfy our hunger for the holiness of God as we meditate on the psalms and are challenged to know the God of the universe in a personal, intimate relationship.
